Rangers over .500 through 5 series, The Red Hot Chili Scheppers experiment

After the 5th complete series, Rangers are two games above .500 with a 9-7 record. Rangers offense was alive yesterday with a Choo home run, 12 hits, and Mitch Moreland getting 3 of the 7 total RBI’s for the team. Rangers scored 3 in the first with a Mitch Moreland single for 2 and a Kouzmanoff double for 1 run. The positive side of yesterday was the Rangers won and took 3 out of 4 games versus the Mariners. Tanner Scheppers had another rough outing. He went just over 2 innings and gave up 6 runs on 6 hits and walked 3. Scheppers would be a good part of the Rangers’ bullpen, but is really struggling finding his legs being a starter. He seems to put up 1 or 2 solid innings and then the bottom falls out and the runs start scoring. The Rangers have lost the 3 previous games he has pitched, however yesterday the offense was alive and was able to win the game in spite of the 6 runs given up. As Wash says, he wants his starting pitchers to keep them in the game for the offense to score. It does not appear at this point Scheppers has been able to do that. It may be time to put Scheppers back in the bullpen where he has had success giving the team 1 or 2 shut down innings.
