Rangers have a 5-0 win over the Rockies to end this rough series. They looked great, the bats were alive, and Matt Harrison, Nick Martinez, & Joakim Soria pitched well. They were able to limit the Rockies to 5 hits with no runs scored. The Rangers had been outscored 29-5 in the previous 3 games. The team looked loose and like they were having fun. The odd topic that has tried to explain some of the good fortune on the field is the change in walk up music. As odd as it sounds, it just might have done the trick. I may be a bit biased on the issue, being a musician, but I believe that music is very powerful. What I can say for certain is that the Rangers looked like they were having fun last night and were visibly looser at the plate. It’s easier to play like your winning when you are having fun. They were having a good time and with a few runs up on the board after the 2nd and Matt still shutting down their offense they were winning. The Rangers were quickly on the board with a Martin RBI single in the second to score Alex Rios and he was also able to score that inning on a E2. Prince Fielder homered in the 6th and the Rangers scored off a single by Choice and a wild pitch by Kahnle. The Rangers also looked great on the field with Odor, Andrus, & Beltre making some Sports Center worthy plays.
With the win last night and the A’s being off yesterday, the Rangers are only 2 games back from first in the AL West. They sit just above .500 at .514. The Rangers take on Boston tonight at 7:05 pm. Yu Darvish will take the start against Clay Buchholz. The Red Sox sit even at .500 and have won their last 2 games. In their past 10 games they are 6-4.
