I'm not wanting to get involved in the JD vs. Nolan conversation. Nor am I wanting to get into the "As the Ballpark Turns" drama that the media is propagating. I'm a huge Nolan Fan and will be very sad to see him go! I'm happy what Nolan has brought to this team in the almost 6 seasons he served. He was a credible leader to an organization that needed a someone for the fans to look to.
With that said, I'm also a JD fan! I love stats and the nerdy sabermetricians who have a different way of looking at a sport with very deep roots in how it should be viewed.
What I'm not a fan of...
The local radio media and the drama story they love to fuel. Even if there is a giant JD vs Nolan battle, should that really be that shocking. Leaders in organizations disagree all the time - Shocker! Making this the epic power struggle and secret conspiracy is just ridiculous. We should be celebrating what Nolan has done, but instead the local radio folks are creating a juicy story filled with drama, betrayal, and heartbreak for the DFW metroplex to devour.
I think the proof will be in the off-season. JD has a good track record. If he can land some great players and have, basically, a complete opposite of last years off season, I think we will all get over this pretty quickly.
Let's celebrate the Ryan Express and give him a great farewell!
I hope he still comes to some games and sits with W!
I'd imagine the man still loves baseball and the Rangers!
GO RANGERS 2014!!!
